The Guardian: Mystery donor’s £17.5m gift could turn Scottish estate into rewilding showcase

Scottish conservationists hope to convert a Highland sporting estate into a rewilding showcase after a mystery benefactor gave them more than £17.5m to buy it.  The Scottish Wildlife Trust (SWT), best known for its small nature reserves, has bought Inverbroom estate near Ullapool in north-west Scotland, complete with an 11-bedroom lodge that boasts an indoor swimming pool.

Scottish Legal News: Wildlife offences down 23 per cent

Recorded wildlife crime offences fell by 23 per cent, from 286 offences in 2021-22 to 220 offences in 2022-23, according to new figures from the chief statistician.

BBC: High Court ruling solar farm set for approval

The proposal for the site near Burnhope, County Durham, will be considered by Durham County Council's planning committee on Wednesday after the previous decision to approve the scheme in March 2023 was ruled "unlawful".
