BBC News: Former coal mine to become giant battery park

Work is under way to create one of the largest energy storage facilities in Europe at Coalburn in South Lanarkshire.

Developers say the two huge neighbouring battery farms - one at the site of a former opencast coal mine - will store enough electricity to power three million homes.

The Scotsman: A tangled tale of a £2.5m, 1,900-hectare Scottish woodland scheme among the UK's biggest

letsrecycle: Mandatory Digital Waste Tracking likely to be delayed

The policy was set by the previous Conservative government to come into effect in April 2025. 

At this stage it is likely that all waste policy – with a few exceptions – will be paused.
