An extension is being sought for the submission of a report to the Scottish government on proposals to make Galloway the country's third national park. NatureScot is in talks seeking approval to deliver its findings after the current deadline of 28 April. It said that since the consultation period on the proposals had been taken from 12 to 14 weeks it was seeking a "small extension".

The first major project for publicly owned Great British Energy will fund solar panels on the roofs of hundreds of schools and hospitals, the Government said. A £200 million investment from the clean energy company’s Government-funded budget will put rooftop solar on schools and NHS sites in efforts to save hundreds of millions of pounds on energy bills and free up cash to reinvest in frontline services.

WRAP’s Household Food Management Survey shows a 21% increase in self-reported food waste for the four key food items monitored: bread, milk, potatoes and chicken. Self-reported waste of the four key products – bread, milk, chicken, and potatoes – has been slowly rising since 2020, which WRAP says is the fourth highest on record since May 2018.
